BEYOND THE BENEFITS
Daniel 3: 16-18
Daniel 3: 16-18
“In every labour there is profit” as the saying goes but as
for the three Hebrew boys in the book of Daniel, it was Beyond the Benefits.
Looking around us today, we have ministers of different
sizes and skin complexion, both those that were called by God into the ministry
and those that called themselves into it. Some follow their ministers in order
to receive the material fragrant of the oil from his congregation; that is a
benefit. Others are ministers for their bellies and to receive some “prophetic
handshakes” (that is, handshakes with some currency encapsulated in them), and
you as a child of God what’s yours? These Hebrew saw beyond the benefits of
serving God that was why they said “but
if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou
has set up” that means, even if God will not save us, we will not sin against
Him; Outside God’s provision and succor we will not compromise our faith;
Outside God’s deliverance we will not back out. Indeed, they saw beyond the
benefits.
Now, you may have earnestly prayed, sowed seeds in the lives
of so many ministers and children of God, fasted, went to different mountains
of various heights to seek the face of God for admission, children, money, life
partners, etc., but all to no solution. In fact, you have drank the drinkable
and ate the edibles but the situation remained unchanged. My Dear, it is time
to look beyond the benefits of being child of God and look at what God is
saying. You know what? God’s deliverance started even before they were thrown
into the furnace. Now, the heat of the flame slew the men that carried them but
could not heat up the skin of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. O praise God!
When we begin to look beyond the benefits of serving and
look at the harvest that is truly plenteous and become labourers and not
workers, indeed Matthew 6:33 would come hunting us even in the darkest night.
Once again I say “look beyond the benefits” ~Akwason Daniel
